Chris Wood

Chris Wood has transitioned from acclaimed television actor to an advocate for mental health awareness, leveraging his platform to reduce stigma and provide resources. After securing a lead role in the national tour of ‘Spring Awakening’ (2010-2011), Chris Wood quickly transitioned into a prolific television career. His early appearances included roles in ‘Major Crimes’ (2013) and as Adam Weaver in ‘The Carrie Diaries’ (2013). Wood’s breakthrough came with his recurring role as the antagonist Kai Parker in The CW’s ‘The Vampire Diaries’ (2014-2017), a performance that garnered significant recognition.

In 2022, Wood made his Broadway debut, starring as Russell Hammond in ‘Almost Famous,’ receiving praise for his stage performance. In 2017, Wood launched IDONTMIND, a non-profit campaign dedicated to mental health awareness. This initiative aims to significantly reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness by fostering open dialogue and providing essential resources. This advocacy work stems from personal experience, following his father’s death which was exacerbated by untreated mood disorders, providing a deeply personal motivation for his philanthropic efforts.

He continued his work behind the camera, releasing his second short film, ‘Snowshoe’ in 2023. Most recently, Wood reprised his voice role as He-Man for ‘Masters of the Universe: Revolution’ (2024). He is currently developing and attached to star in the upcoming NBC series ‘Duo,’ where he will also serve as a co-executive producer and writer alongside Melissa Benoist, showcasing his continued engagement in both creative and philanthropic endeavors.
