Erin Gloria Ryan

Erin Gloria Ryan was born in Frederic, Wisconsin, in 1983. She attended the University of Notre Dame, where she studied English. After graduating in 2005, Ryan worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer in Chicago. From 2007 to 2011, she was employed at Merrill Lynch. In 2011, she relocated to New York City and began her career as a writer, contributing to Jezebel, The New York Times, and Playboy. She became the managing editor at Jezebel before moving to Vocativ in 2015 as a senior editor. In 2016, Ryan joined The Daily Beast as a senior editor, where she continues to contribute political and cultural opinion pieces, focusing on the intersection of politics, gender, and society.

Ryan expanded her career into television writing in 2018 when she spent two months writing for the television series “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” for its thirteenth season after an invitation from Rob McElhenney. She also became a frequent panelist on S. E. Cupp’s CNN political panel show, “S. E. Cupp Unfiltered”, during 2017 and 2018, and made appearances on other CNN news programs like “CNN Newsroom.”

In 2017, Ryan ventured into podcasting with “Girl Friday.” She later became a recurring guest on Crooked Media podcasts “Pod Save America” and “Lovett or Leave It.” In June 2018, Ryan co-launched “Hysteria” with Crooked Media, a politics and comedy podcast co-hosted with Alyssa Mastromonaco. The podcast focuses on women’s voices and popular culture, quickly reaching the top of the iTunes records chart and accumulating over a million downloads within two months.
