Eugene Simon is a British actor with a global reputation. He is best known for playing Jerome Clarke in the award-winning Nickelodeon series House of Anubis and Lancel Lannister in Game of Thrones, widely regarded as one, if not the greatest television series ever made. He has won two Best Actor awards for his film work on 2018’s Kill Ben Lyk and 2020’s Love Have I Known respectively.
Simon was born in London in 1992. A talented actor from childhood, he moved to Los Angeles to study his craft at Joseph Pearlman’s academy there. He had, however, been a semi-professional actor since the age of eight, making his earliest appearances in commercials on British television. When he was just 11, he appeared in several episodes of childrens’ series My Dad’s the Prime Minister and got his next recurring role the following year playing Eddie in Noah and Saskia.
2011 would prove to be Simon’s breakthrough year. The previous year, on his 18th birthday, he found out that’d he’d been cast as Lancel Lannister in Game of Thrones, the show that went on to define the potential of television during the 2010s. The first episodes Simon appeared in were aired in 2011 as was House of Anubis, a Nickelodeon series set in the UK that would run for nearly 200 episodes and twice be named Best UK Show at the Nickelodeon UK Kids’ Choice Awards. More recently, Simon has also appeared in theatre in both London and Los Angeles, signalling that he still holds plenty of ambition, even after such huge success.
