Evgenii Klimov

Evgenii Dmitriyevich Klimov was born on February 3, 1994, in Perm, Russia. He began his competitive career in Nordic combined, participating in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. During his time in Nordic combined, Klimov achieved a 45th place finish in the individual normal hill/10 km event and a 9th place finish in the team event. His best individual finish in the Nordic Combined World Cup was 30th in the 2013/14 season, and his best team finish at the World Championships was 12th in 2013.

In 2015, Klimov transitioned his focus entirely to ski jumping, a move that marked a significant turning point in his career. He quickly achieved success in his new discipline, securing two medals in ski jumping at the 2015 Winter Universiade in Osrblie, Slovakia. His progression in ski jumping continued, leading to his World Cup debut in the 2015/16 season. He gained significant recognition by winning the 2018 FIS Ski Jumping Grand Prix overall title, establishing himself as a top competitor in the sport.

Klimov made history by becoming the first Russian male to win an individual Ski Jumping World Cup event, achieving this milestone in Wisła during the 2018/19 season. His career highlights also include setting the national record for the longest ski jump at 237 meters in Planica in 2020. At the 2022 Winter Olympics, representing the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), he earned a silver medal as part of the mixed team, further cementing his legacy in international ski jumping.
