Fabio Capello

Fabio Capello began his illustrious career as a professional footballer, securing his first major trophy, the Coppa Italia, with Roma in 1969. As a midfielder, he went on to win three Serie A titles with Juventus in 1972, 1973, and 1975. During his time at Juventus, he was part of the squad that famously beat England at Wembley for the first time in history in 1973. Capello further cemented his playing legacy at AC Milan, winning another Coppa Italia in 1977 and a Serie A title in 1979 before concluding his playing career in 1980.

After departing Russia in 2015, he took on his final coaching role with Chinese club Jiangsu Suning from 2017 to 2018, before announcing his retirement from coaching in 2018. Throughout his career, Capello has received significant industry recognition, including induction into the Italian Football Hall of Fame in 2013 and the AC Milan Hall of Fame. He was honored with the Marca Leyenda in 2011, the Gran Galà del Calcio Critics’ Award in 2011, and the AIAC Football Leader Career Award in 2016. Esteemed publications have consistently ranked him among the greatest managers of all time, with ESPN placing him 20th in 2013, World Soccer 24th in 2013, and France Football 21st in 2019, underscoring his lasting impact on global football.
