Jordan Poyer

Born on April 25, 1991, in Dallas, Oregon, Jordan Poyer excelled in multiple sports during his early life. At Astoria High School, he participated in baseball, basketball, and football, helping his baseball team win a state championship as a freshman and his football team secure a state championship as a senior. His exceptional performance in football earned him Oregon’s player of the year award. He was also drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 42nd round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft, demonstrating his diverse athletic talent. This early foundation in competitive sports laid the groundwork for his future professional career.

Poyer played college football at Oregon State University from 2009 to 2012. During his time at Oregon State, he showcased significant defensive skills, leading the Pac-12 Conference in interceptions in both 2011 and 2012. In his senior year, he was recognized as a consensus All-American and was named to the All-Pac-12 first-team, solidifying his reputation as a top collegiate talent. His strong performance at Oregon State attracted the attention of NFL scouts, leading to his selection in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Jordan Poyer was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL draft. After a brief stint with the Eagles, he was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns in 2013, where he began to establish himself as a reliable safety. His career saw a significant turning point when he signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2017. Alongside fellow safety Micah Hyde, Poyer formed one of the league’s most effective safety duos. With the Bills, he achieved significant milestones, including being named First-team All-Pro in 2021 and earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2022. He later signed with the Miami Dolphins for the 2024 season before returning to the Buffalo Bills in 2025.
