Francois Chau was born on October 26, 1959, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. At the age of six, he moved with his family to Saigon, and then a year later, relocated to France due to the Vietnam War. His family eventually settled in Washington, D.C., where he completed his schooling. After graduating from college, Chau moved to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career, where he currently resides with his wife and daughter. His career spans over three decades, marked by a consistent presence in various productions.

Chau gained significant recognition for his role as Dr. Pierre Chang in ABC’s critically acclaimed series, “Lost.” He appeared in 17 episodes of the show from 2005 to 2010, portraying both Dr. Pierre Chang and his alternate identities, Dr. Edgar Halliwax and Dr. Marvin Candle. This role showcased his ability to handle complex characters within a high-profile series. Beyond “Lost,” Chau has taken on numerous diverse roles, playing Chinese, Japanese, and even Hmong characters, demonstrating his versatility as an actor.
