Brad Fittler

Brad Fittler is a celebrated figure in Australian rugby league, having achieved success as both a player and a coach at the elite level. His experience spans club, state, and international competitions, accumulating numerous accolades throughout his career. After becoming the youngest NSW State of Origin player at 18 years and 114 days and representing the Australian Schoolboys in both 1988 and 1989, Brad Fittler launched into a distinguished professional rugby league career. He began his first-grade journey with the Penrith Panthers in 1989, securing a Grand Final win with the club in 1991.

Throughout his playing career, Fittler earned numerous individual honors, including the Nokia Provan-Summons Medal and Rugby League Week Player of the Year in 1997, and the esteemed Golden Boot award in 2000, recognizing him as the world’s best player. He also captained Australia in 20 Tests, achieving 17 victories, and led New South Wales in 14 State of Origin matches, winning eight. His dominance was further recognized with his naming in the NRL Team of the 1990s in 2003. Following his illustrious playing career, Fittler seamlessly transitioned into coaching, serving as Head Coach for the Sydney Roosters from 2007 to 2009.

He was also part of the 2001 Kangaroo Tour squad. Looking ahead, he is set to become an inaugural inductee of the Stadium Australia Hall of Fame in 2025, cementing his enduring impact on Australian sport.
