Born on August 30, 1996, in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil, Gabriel Barbosa Almeida began his football journey early, joining Santos’s youth academy at the age of eight in 2004. His skill as a young striker quickly earned him the nickname ‘Gabigol.’ He made his senior debut for Santos at just 16 years old in 2013, marking the start of a promising career. During his initial spell with Santos, he demonstrated his goal-scoring abilities, becoming a key player and drawing significant attention from international clubs.

Barbosa’s career saw a significant turning point with his move to Inter Milan in 2016 for a reported €29.5 million. While his time in European football with Inter Milan and a loan spell at Benfica was brief and challenging, he returned to Brazil in 2018, revitalizing his career.
