Geoff Meade MBE covered EU affairs as Europe Editor of the Press Association for over three decades, and is a popular and experienced conference moderator and speaker. He won a European journalism award in 2008, and was awarded an MBE in 2016 for his services to the British community in Belgium. Reporting from the centre of Brussels, Geoff documented tales of politics, scandals and treaties, writing for publications including The Bulletin and E!Sharp. He has also written for The Independent and is the author of the book All in a Day’s Shirk, which documents Meade’s experiences covering European Affairs, appears frequently on European TV channels, and is a presenter of the European Parliament’s Leaders of Europe programme.
Geoff joined the Press Association, the UK’s national news agency, in 1974 and five years later he was appointed as the agency’s resident correspondent in Brussels. Meade maintained the highest editorial standards during his 35 years at the Press Association, and had such an impact that the European Commission officially gave him his own plaque in the Commission’s Press Bar.
Meade is a highly engaging and popular personality, and is well-known in Brussels for the annual Press Review, where the latest news in the EU is conveyed through comedy sketches and songs. Meade writes the majority of sketches and performs them alongside former Brussels journalists.
With extensive experience in EU affairs and the media, Meade now delivers professional moderating services for conferences, seminars and workshops through Meade Davis Communications, alongside fellow well-known Brussels-based journalist Jacki Davis.
