Myrka Bárbara Dellanos was born on May 27, 1965, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She pursued her education at the University of Miami, graduating in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Dellanos began her prominent career in television in 1992 as a co-host for Univision’s news program, “Primer Impacto.” She continued in this role for over a decade, becoming a recognized figure in Spanish-language media. During her tenure, she received multiple accolades, including being named “Star of the Year” by “People en Español” readers in 2004.
Throughout her career, Dellanos has been involved in various high-profile initiatives. She hosted Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations at the White House and was appointed by U.S. President George W. Bush as a member of the Freedom Corps, a group dedicated to promoting charitable giving. Her work extended beyond broadcasting to include social service and humanitarian efforts, focusing on aid for orphaned children and victims of domestic abuse. In 2013, she became a spokesperson for “I Am Second,” a movement providing spiritual inspiration. That same year, after an eight-year break from broadcast journalism, Dellanos returned to television as a host and contributor for Estrella TV’s news-magazine “En la Mira.” She has also authored several books, including “Succeed and Be Happy: Things I Learned Thanks to God, My Mom, and Life.”
