George Hardy

George Hardy was born on October 15, 1954, in Alexander City, Alabama, USA. He pursued his education at Auburn University, graduating in 1977, where he was also a cheerleader. During this period, he developed an interest in theater and took acting classes but initially decided against pursuing acting professionally due to concerns about its practicality as a career. He subsequently pursued a career in dentistry. While practicing as a dentist in Salt Lake City, he auditioned for a film at the encouragement of his patients. This led to his breakout role.

In 1990, Hardy starred as Michael Waits in the horror film “Troll 2.” Despite its initial direct-to-video release and overwhelmingly negative reception, the film later gained a significant cult following, eventually being recognized as one of the “worst films ever made.” Following its release, Hardy returned to his dental practice full-time, establishing a practice in his hometown of Alexander City, Alabama, in 1991. His connection to “Troll 2” resurfaced with the “Troll 2 Experience” screening in 2006, leading to a renewed interest in his acting career.

Hardy collaborated with Michael Stephenson, his co-star from “Troll 2,” on the 2009 documentary “Best Worst Movie,” which chronicled the production and unexpected fan base of “Troll 2.” This documentary received critical acclaim and led to an international tour for Hardy and Stephenson. The success of “Best Worst Movie” prompted Hardy to revive his acting career. He has since appeared in various projects, including “Under ConTroll” (2019), where he reprised his “Troll 2” role, and had his first leading role since “Troll 2” as Sergeant Travis Delmore in “Texas Cotton” (2018), for which he also served as an executive producer. He also appeared in the horror film “Cyst” (2020) as Dr. Guy.
