Georgette Mosbacher is an internationally recognized entrepreneur, author, public speaker, philanthropist, and diplomat, who served as the first woman United States Ambassador to Poland. After acquiring the high-end cosmetics firm La Prairie in 1987, Georgette Mosbacher successfully revitalized its sales and expanded its global reach, selling the company to Beiersdorf, a German personal care product provider, in 1991. Mosbacher’s impressive business career began after she earned a Bachelor of Science from Indiana University Bloomington in 1970, followed by an initial role in advertising in Chicago before transitioning into the competitive cosmetics industry. Building on this foundation, Mosbacher established Georgette Mosbacher Enterprises, Inc.
Her transition to a diplomatic posting became official in 2018, when she was nominated by President Donald Trump and confirmed by the United States Senate as the United States Ambassador to Poland, a role she held until 2021. During her ambassadorship, Ambassador Mosbacher championed critical initiatives, including negotiating a one-billion-dollar fund with the US International Development Finance Corporation for the Three Seas Initiative. She was instrumental in concluding an enhanced defense cooperation agreement between the United States and Poland and oversaw Poland becoming the first nation added to the US Visa Waiver Program in five years. For her profound diplomatic contributions, Mosbacher received significant international recognition, including the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland in 2021 and the Department of the Armys Distinguished Public Servant Medal.
