Multi-talented actress Katie Aselton, is also a director, writer and producer, as well as a former beauty queen. She directed and starred in The Freebie, and starred in the long-running FX sitcom, The League, as well as in the first two seasons of FX’s Marvel Comics X-Men series, Legion.
Born and raised in Maine, Aselton began showing an interest in performing from an early age. Before taking up acting, she was a beauty queen having huge success in 1995 when she was crowned Miss Maine Teen, and won the Jantzen Swimsuit Competition. The same year she was also the first runner-up in Miss Teen USA. She graduated from school and then attended Boston University, before moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She appeared in a number of short films and made her feature film debut in 2005 in The Puffy Chair opposite her future husband, Mark Duplass. After a break from acting, in 2009 she appeared in an episode of the US version of The Office opposite Steve Carell. As well as producing, directing and writing, she has continued to act in many film and TV productions, including HBO’s Togetherness, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Although Aselton does have a Twitter account, she mostly engages with her dedicated followers via Instagram, regularly posting about her professional and personal life.
