Katie Aselton

Kathryn Aselton was born on October 1, 1978, in Milbridge, Maine. She began her public career in 1995, competing in pageants and earning the title of Miss Maine Teen USA 1995, followed by a first runner-up placement at Miss Teen USA 1995. Aselton attended Boston University School of Communications for two years before moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting. She furthered her education at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York for two years, solidifying her foundation in performance.

Aselton’s acting career began with short film appearances in the early 2000s, including “Scrapple” in 2004 alongside Mark and Jay Duplass. Her feature film debut came in 2005 with “The Puffy Chair,” directed by the Duplass brothers, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Beyond acting, Aselton expanded her creative roles, notably directing and co-starring in “The Freebie,” which was featured in the “Next” category at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010. She continued to write, direct, and star in independent films such as “Black Rock” in 2012. Her directorial work also includes “Mack & Rita” (2022) and the upcoming “Magic Hour” (2025), where she also co-wrote and starred.

On television, Aselton gained recognition for her main role as Jenny in the FX sitcom “The League,” which ran for seven seasons from 2009 to 2015. She also played a significant role as Amy in the first two seasons of FX’s drama “Legion” (2017–2018). Her television credits also include appearances in “The Office,” “Togetherness,” “Casual,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Veep,” and “The Morning Show.” Throughout her career, Aselton has consistently engaged in a diverse range of projects across film and television, demonstrating her versatility as a creative professional.
