Multi-award-winning Spanish actor Gines Garcia Millan has been wowing television and theatre audiences for over 30 years. Among his most celebrated roles are his portrayal of former Spanish prime minister Adolfo Suarez in 23-F: la pelicula, a 2011 film that told the true story of an attempted 1981 coup when the entire Spanish government was held hostage for 22 hours. He has also won awards for his roles in Herederos, Meine Liebe, Palos de ciego amor, and Mama es boba. In 2021, he played Cesar Lazcano in the Mexican thriller series Who Killed Sara? The show was a huge hit in both South America and the United States, giving Garcia Millan his widest success to date.
Garcia Millan was born in Puerto Lumbreras, Spain, in 1964. Famously, he almost became a professional footballer, playing for Real Valladolid’s youth side when the club was enjoying one its most successful periods. Ultimately, however, he decided to embark on an acting career, and began studying at the presitigious Real Escula Superior de Arte Dramatico in Madrid. He made his major stage debut in 1989 and his television debut three years later. During the 1990s, he built a strong reputation in both, adding film to his resume from 1995.
On stage, Garcia Millan has played some of the greatest roles the theatre has to offer, including parts in King Lear, Othello, and Glengarry Glen Ross. Since the early 2000s, his profile has blossomed, and he has received many awards and accolades. The huge success of Who Killed Sara? shows that 30 years in, he is still breaking new ground too.
