Gracie Gillam

Gracie Gillam, born Grace Phipps on May 4, 1992, in Austin, Texas, developed an early interest in performing. She was raised in Boerne and San Antonio, Texas, and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School’s North East School of the Arts with a degree in Musical Theatre. Her talent was recognized early when she won the Las Casas Performing Arts Scholarship Competition in 2010. Shortly after graduating high school, Gillam moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. Within seven days, she secured a role in the DreamWorks film “Fright Night” (2011), marking her entry into professional acting. That same year, she also took on a regular role as Amy in the ABC Family fantasy drama series, “The Nine Lives of Chloe King.” This early success established a foundation for her career in both film and television.

Gillam’s career progressed with significant television roles. From 2012 to 2013, she gained wider recognition for her recurring role as April Young in The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries,” appearing in 10 episodes of the fourth season. In 2013, she starred as Lela in the Disney Channel Original Movie “Teen Beach Movie,” a musical that appealed to a broad audience, becoming the second-highest rated cable movie in television history with 13.5 million viewers. She reprised this role in the sequel, “Teen Beach 2” (2015), which was the most-watched cable movie of 2015 with 5.8 million viewers. Beyond Disney, Gillam appeared in series like “Baby Daddy” (2013), “Supernatural” (2013) as fallen angel Hael, and “Austin & Ally” (2014) as movie star Brandy Braxton. Her versatility extended to horror films such as “Dark Summer” (2015), where she played Mona Wilson, and “Some Kind of Hate” (2015), where she took on the lead as Kaitlin.

More recently, Gillam has continued to expand her acting portfolio. From 2017 to 2018, she was a main cast member as Sgt. Lilly Mueller in the Syfy series “Z Nation.” In 2016, she enrolled at Columbia University’s School of General Studies, focusing on Film and Art History. Her recent projects include “Superhost” (2021) as Rebecca and “Murder at the Murder Mystery Party” (2023) as Jade Jensen, demonstrating a sustained presence in the entertainment industry. Gillam’s career has also included music, with her performances featured in the soundtracks for “Teen Beach Movie” and “Teen Beach 2,” both of which charted on the Billboard 200.
