Gregory Lomack Allen was born on March 15, 1993, in San Diego, California. He attended Hilltop High School and later played college baseball at San Diego State University for three seasons. During his collegiate career in 2013, he also participated in collegiate summer baseball with the Orleans Firebirds in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
Allen’s professional journey began when he was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 6th round of the 2014 MLB draft. He quickly progressed through the minor league ranks, showcasing strong performance. In 2015, playing for the Lake County Captains, he recorded 43 stolen bases. He continued this trajectory in 2016 with the Lynchburg Hillcats and Akron RubberDucks, finishing the season with 45 stolen bases and an .830 OPS. His consistent performance led to his Major League Baseball debut with the Cleveland Indians on September 1, 2017. He subsequently played for the San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Baltimore Orioles.
Throughout his career, Allen has been recognized for his contributions, particularly in fielding and baserunning. He received the Rawlings MiLB Gold Glove in 2016 and was named an MiLB.com Organization All-Star for the Cleveland Indians in both 2016 and 2017.
