Hank Green has founded, built, and sustained a number of projects since beginning a video blog called Vlogbrothers with his brother John in 2007. He’s an entrepreneur, a science communicator, and a video producer. The brothers also founded The Project for Awesome, a charity that has earned more than $10 million for various charities.
Green founded DFTBA.com with his friend Alan Lastufka in 2008, and the company helps others in creating and selling their items. VidCon, the world’s largest event that honors the community, craft, and industry of online video, was founded by Green in 2010. Green also founded his own educational media firm, Complexly, in 2012, after launching SciShow and Crash Course. Complexly produces content that is used in nearly every high school in America and has generated videos that have been viewed billions of times. “Journey to the Microcosmos,” “Eons,” “Healthcare Triage,” “Origin of Everything,” “SciShow Kids,” and other Complexly YouTube channels continue to develop and grow.
Subbable, a subscription-based crowdfunding platform, was founded by Green in 2013. With “Dear Hank and John,” a dubious advice podcast, Green and his brother also entered the realm of podcasting. Since then, he’s added “Delete This,” a podcast in which his wife criticizes his Twitter feed, and “SciShow: Tangents,” a science-focused, hilarious game show, to his podcast collection. Green’s Instagram handle is @hankgreen, and he has over 820,000 followers.
