Single-handedly killing the game as of late, Southern rapper Hard Target has become recognised as one of the most versatile and unique artists around. A breath of fresh air a million miles from the manufactured characters dominating music today, he is rock, country and hip hop expertly unified. 2020 saw the release of highly anticipated album JoyRidin and banging single ‘The River’ with Struggle Jennings and DJ Winn, followed quickly by ‘Moonlight’ and its striking video which shows the country rapper being burned at the stake. Consistently pushing boundaries and experimenting with a wide variety of different styles throughout his impressive music career, Hard Target’s trademark chipmunk soul and hypnotic rapid-fire flow has been casting a spell on fans since he dropped album Karma in 2013.
Born Ryan Fleming in Redford, Michigan, Hard Target was raised in Florida on Southern music. After gaining prominence in his hometown of Spring Hill through the open-mike scene he then conquered the South performing and self-releasing several CDs. After catching the attention of Fred Durst with his infectious and emotionally hard-hitting melodies and rhymes, the Limp Bizkit star managed Hard Target for a stint and jumped on multiple tracks. Now recording and producing his own albums once more thanks to this fierce do-it-yourself mindset, the rapper’s 2019 breakthrough hit ‘Chevrolet’ has now racked up more than 16 million views on YouTube, and Hard Target’s popularity has continued to soar into the new decade.
