H’Hen Niê was born on May 15, 1992, in Buôn Sứt M’đưng, Cư Suê, Cư M’gar, Đắk Lắk, Vietnam. She belongs to the Ê Đê ethnic minority. H’Hen Niê studied corporate finance at the College of Foreign Economic Relations. Her initial foray into the public eye came through her participation in Vietnam’s Next Top Model 2015, where she reached the Top 9. This experience marked a turning point, solidifying her interest in modeling and public life. In 2014, fashion designer Đỗ Mạnh Cường discovered her, providing her with an early opportunity in the modeling industry.
Her career progressed significantly when she won Miss Universe Vietnam 2017, becoming the first ethnic minority woman to hold this title. This victory propelled her onto the international stage, where she represented Vietnam at Miss Universe 2018, achieving a Top 5 placement. This was a historical achievement for Vietnam in the pageant. Following her success, H’Hen Niê dedicated her prize money to charitable activities, emphasizing education and community support. She actively participated in programs like Room to Read to inspire students and contributed to charity projects for children, women, and HIV/AIDS patients. In 2019, she co-won The Amazing Race Vietnam 2019 with Đặng Thị Lệ Hằng and donated their prize money to charity in Mèo Vạc, Hà Giang.
Beyond pageantry, H’Hen Niê has served as a television personality and a judge for shows like The Next Face in 2021 and Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 and 2023. She was also appointed as a member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Federation for the 2019–2024 term. Her commitment to social causes extended to being a global ambassador for Room to Read in 2018, supporting girls’ education and literacy programs. She has received multiple awards for her community work, including the “Star for the Community” award in 2018 and “Youth Living Beautifully” in 2021. H’Hen Niê has successfully balanced her career in modeling and television with her philanthropic endeavors.
