Isaiah “Izzy” Brown is an English footballer currently playing in midfield for Preston North End in the Championship, the club he joined during summer 2021. He was previously on the books at Chelsea for eight years, during which time he played for a dizzying amount of clubs on loan, including Brighton & Hove Albion, Leeds United, and Huddersfield Town. He also represented his country at every level up between U-16 and U-20, making 36 appearances in the prestigious three lions shirt.
Brown was born in Peterborough but got his first taste of footballing success in the West Midlands. Signed up by West Bromwich Albion, he was named their Youth Academy Player of the Year for 2012-2013. That season also saw him make his professional debut for the Baggies, aged 16 and 117 days, making him the second-youngest Premier League player ever. Within months, he’d been signed up by Premier League rivals Chelsea. He captained their UEFA Youth League winning side of 2014-2015 and also made the first-team squad during their league-winning 2014-2015 season. Loan spells followed with Dutch side Vitesse and Championship side Rotherham United. He then went on loan to Huddersfield Town, becoming instrumental in their play-off-winning Championship season of 2016-2017.
Further successful spells followed with the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion, Leeds United, and Sheffield Wednesday. At the latter, he scored the winning goal in a tough EFL Cup penalty shootout against Walsall. Now having made a permanent move to Preston North End, Brown is hoping to settle down and continue his winning form.
