Emmy Award-winning hip-hop artist Jabee’s music “has the potential to change the world” according to Public Enemy’s Chuck D. The ‘Monument’ and ‘By Any Means’ rapper dropped his DJ Vadim-produced debut album Blood is the New Black back in 2008 and has continued to release critically acclaimed music ever since, working with some of hip-hops biggest names. Touring with the likes of Murs and Run the Jewels (Killer Mike and El-P) he has featured on MTV, Complex, Vibe, The Source, Sway in the Morning and XXL and performed on Russell Westbrook’s celebrity comedy show and at Kevin Durant’s celebrity basketball game.
Born Jonathan Blake Williams Jr. in Oklahoma, Jabee exploded onto the scene in the mid 2000’s preforming under aliases Emcee Jabee and MC Jabee and competing in MC battles and freestyle cyphers around Texas and Oklahoma. Influenced heavily by the likes of CamRon, Biggie Small and 2 Pac, he created his first release ‘Ijuswannamakesomemusic’ whilst at college and was snapped up by Bombcity Records. The record label and Illroots.com dropped the rapper’s EPtape Songs For Debutantes in 2008. Featuring DJ Cadim and Emcee Hype, the tape soon gained notoriety on the internet as Jabee rose to prominence on the music scene.
The hip-hop star has also worked as an actor, featuring in Danny McQuarin’s Skywriters, Nike’s 2014 Kevin Durant commercial The Baddest, starring an Emmy-award winning 2014 ad for the Science Museum of Oklahoma called “What If?” and roles in America’s Biggest Serial Killer and Heartland (2016). The rapper has also taken on the role of an activist in real life, trying to stop systemic racism within his home state of Oklahoma.
