Jan Sport is an American drag performer and singer recognized for her appearances on 'RuPaul's Drag Race' and 'RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars'.
Charles Joseph Mantione, known as Jan Sport, was born on June 11, 1993, in Old Bridge Township, New Jersey. His early life included participation in sports and theater, excelling as a soccer player until age 17 and performing in high school musical productions such as ‘Oklahoma!’ and ‘High School Musical’. He further pursued his artistic interests by studying musical theater at the Boston Conservatory. This foundational training in performance laid the groundwork for his career in drag.
Jan Sport officially began her drag career on July 8, 2016. In 2018, she co-founded the pop group Stephanie’s Child with fellow drag queens Rosé and Lagoona Bloo, showcasing her vocal talents. This group later appeared on ‘America’s Got Talent’ in 2019. Jan achieved significant recognition after being cast on the twelfth season of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’, announced on January 23, 2020. During her time on the show, she was referred to mononymously as “Jan” due to trademark considerations regarding her stage name. She finished in eighth place after being eliminated in episode eight. Following her initial run, Jan returned to compete on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars’ Season 6, where she secured seventh place.
Throughout her career, Jan Sport has demonstrated versatility as a performer and vocalist. She received the Breakthrough Artist award and was nominated for Best Vocalist at the 2018 NY Nightlife Awards. Her post-‘Drag Race’ endeavors include hosting the YouTube web series ‘Jan’s Jukebox,’ where she performed covers of songs featured on her season, and in April 2023, she launched the podcast ‘Unpacked with Jan Sport.’ Her collaborations extend to music releases, including original singles and featured appearances alongside other notable drag artists.
