Jan Sport is the stage name of Charlie Mantione, a fabulous drag artist and singer based in New York City. She came to international attention after appearing on season twelve of the reality TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2020. She was also a contestant on the sixth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Mantione was interested in sports and performing while at High School. He played soccer until he was 17, and participated in a number of school productions. He later attended the Boston Conservatory (now part of the Berklee College of Music) to study musical theatre. He started performing drag in 2016, going on to be crowned Lady Liberty as Jan Sport, the name being a tongue-in-cheek reference to the famous brand of backpacks because of his love of sports. In 2018 she formed the pop group Stephanie’s Child with fellow drag queens Rosé and Lagoona Bloo, and later that year won the title of Breakthrough Artist and was nominated for Best Vocalist at the 2018 NY Nightlife Awards. She appeared on Season 13 of The Voice finale with Jessie J, and competed on America’s Got Talent with Stephanie’s Child. In 2020 Jan Sport was cast on season twelve of RuPaul’s Drag Race, and in 2021 she returned to compete on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season six.
