Jared Padalecki was born on July 19, 1982, in San Antonio, Texas, to Sherri (Kammer), an English teacher, and Gerald Padalecki, a tax accountant. He has Polish, German, English, Scottish, and French ancestry. Padalecki began taking acting lessons at age 12. In 1999, he won the “Claim to Fame” Contest, which led to an appearance at the Teen Choice Awards and an introduction to an agent. After graduating from James Madison High School in 2000, where he was a candidate for the Presidential Scholars Program, he moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue acting. His early career included roles in the 2000 television film “Silent Witness” and the Disney Channel Original Movie “A Ring of Endless Light” in 2002.
