Jared Padalecki

Jared Padalecki was born on July 19, 1982, in San Antonio, Texas, to Sherri (Kammer), an English teacher, and Gerald Padalecki, a tax accountant. He has Polish, German, English, Scottish, and French ancestry. Padalecki began taking acting lessons at age 12. In 1999, he won the “Claim to Fame” Contest, which led to an appearance at the Teen Choice Awards and an introduction to an agent. After graduating from James Madison High School in 2000, where he was a candidate for the Presidential Scholars Program, he moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue acting. His early career included roles in the 2000 television film “Silent Witness” and the Disney Channel Original Movie “A Ring of Endless Light” in 2002.

Padalecki gained significant recognition for his role as Dean Forester on the WB series “Gilmore Girls,” which he played from 2000 to 2005. During this period, he also appeared in feature films such as “New York Minute” (2004) and “Flight of the Phoenix” (2004). A notable turning point in his career came in 2005 when he was cast as Sam Winchester in The CW’s “Supernatural.” This role spanned 15 seasons from 2005 to 2020, making it one of the longest-running North American sci-fi series. Concurrently, he took on roles in horror films like “House of Wax” (2005) and “Cry Wolf” (2005), and later starred in “Friday the 13th” (2009).

Following the conclusion of “Supernatural,” Padalecki took on the lead role in and served as an executive producer for “Walker,” a reboot of “Walker, Texas Ranger,” which premiered on The CW in 2021 and concluded in 2024 after four seasons. His career trajectory also includes hosting MTV’s horror reality series “Room 401” in 2007. Beyond acting and producing, Padalecki has become a co-founder of MANTRA Labs and CWonder, an eco-friendly home goods line, demonstrating his entrepreneurial interests. He also developed the “Always Keep Fighting” campaign in 2015 to support mental health awareness, donating funds to organizations like “To Write Love On Her Arms.”
