Jason O’Mara

Jason O’Mara was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. After graduating from Trinity College Dublin with a BA in Drama and Theatre, he moved to London to pursue his acting career. He gained experience in British repertory theatre, securing leading roles in productions at The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Almeida, The Donmar, London’s West End (Apollo and Comedy Theatres), and the Gate Theatre, Dublin. Concurrently, he appeared in numerous British TV series for both the BBC and ITV. His permanent move to the US in 2002 marked a significant turning point, leading to a prominent presence in American and international film and television.

Over his career, O’Mara has achieved numerous milestones. In 2017, he received the Irish Film and Television Award (IFTA) for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Sgt. Jack Prendergast in the film ‘The Siege Of Jadotville.’ He is also recognized for his extensive voice work, having served as the voice of Batman in the DC Animated Movie Universe from 2013 to 2020 and Zeus on the Netflix series ‘Blood of Zeus’ from 2020 to present. His television credits include lead roles in ‘Terra Nova’ (2011), ‘Vegas’ (2012–13), ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ (2016–17), and ‘The Man in the High Castle’ (2018–19).

Beyond his acting work, O’Mara contributes to the arts community as an ambassador for The Lir, Ireland’s National Academy of Dramatic Art at Trinity College Dublin. He also supports men’s health as an ambassador for The Movember Foundation. He became an American citizen in 2009. His continued involvement in diverse projects showcases a sustained commitment to his craft and to industry advocacy.
