Comedian, actor and writer Jay Chandrasekhar is known for his work with comedy group Broken Lizard, and for directing numerous TV episodes.
Born in Chicago, Chandrasekhar attended university in the state and formed the Broken Lizard troupe with friends he met at a fraternity there. He started acting and performing stand up comedy around campus, as well as self funding a series of shorts with the group. Their debut Puddle Cruiser was chosen as part of the 1996 Sundance Film Festival, and Chandrasekhar went on to direct numerous other films including Super Troopers, The Dukes of Hazzard and The Babymakers. He has also enjoyed huge success as a director for several television shows such as The Goldbergs, Happy Endings, Community, Psych, and Arrested Development. One-off directing roles on shows such as Ben & Kate and Crazy Ex Girlfriend also followed, and Chandrasekhar now has a reputation as a highly effective and professional director. This multitalented performer is also a regular on the stand up comedy circuit, often appearing with his fellow Broken Lizard stars.
This prolific performer and director continues to work both on screen and behind the camera, and is rumoured to have many more exciting projects in the pipeline. Chandrasekhar has become well known for his trademark dark humour, as well as explicit and often crude stories and looks set for many more years of success both with Broken Lizard and independently.
