The brilliant Thomas James “Jay” Feely is a sportscaster and former professional Football placekicker. He played for a number of sides in the NFL, most notably the Atlanta Falcons and the New York Giants. Since retiring from the game he has worked for CBS/Turner Sports.
Born and raised in Odessa, Florida, Feely was prolific at sports from a young age and at High School he set Hillsborough County career and season records for field goals and extra points. He was also a renowned soccer player, winning the National Championships at 16 with his team Temple Terrace Spirit Soccer. He attended the University of Michigan where he excelled at Football, finishing his college career 20-for-26 in field goals and 43-for-44 in extra points.
Feely went undrafted in the 1999 NFL Draft, and so kicked for the Florida Bobcats of the Arena Football League. The following year he played for Tampa Bay Storm. Then after working with the Washington Redskins for a few weeks, he was signed by the Atlanta Falcons in 2001, going on to be named a member of the Pro Football Weekly All-Rookie Team. He signed with the New York Giants in 2005, with whom he went on to break the franchise record for best field goal percentage over a two-year period. Then from 2008 to 2014 he played for five different clubs: Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, and the Chicago Bears, before retiring from the game. In 2015 he joined the CBS Sports Network and has been with them ever since, covering NFL action.
