Jay McGuiness has transitioned from chart-topping boyband member to acclaimed musical theatre actor and author. After achieving significant global success as a member of the Anglo-Irish boy band The Wanted, Jay McGuiness went on to establish himself as an acclaimed musical theatre actor and author. McGuiness rose to prominence in 2010 with The Wanted, a group that achieved two UK number-one singles, ‘All Time Low’ and ‘Glad You Came,’ from their debut album. The band garnered international recognition, supporting prominent artists such as Justin Bieber and Britney Spears on major tours.
The Musical’ at the Dominion Theatre. McGuiness continued to build a strong presence in musical theatre, taking on a leading role in ‘Sleepless – A Musical Romance’ in 2020. He further cemented his theatrical career in 2022, playing the lead role of Bob Wallace in the touring musical version of ‘White Christmas.’ Venturing into a new creative domain, McGuiness released his debut fantasy novel, ‘Blood Flowers,’ in February 2024. Published worldwide by Scholastic, the novel delves into complex themes of ‘love, witchcraft, betrayal and murder,’ while subtly exploring contemporary issues such as poverty, class divide, and addiction.
The same year, he took on the role of Ben in the stage play ‘2:22 A Ghost Story’ and is currently starring as William Shakespeare in the critically acclaimed UK tour of ‘& Juliet,’ showcasing his enduring talent and wide-ranging appeal across multiple artistic platforms.
