About

John and Edward Grimes, born on October 16, 1991, in Dublin, Ireland, first gained prominence as Jedward during the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009. Their unique performing style, characterized by unpolished but enthusiastic routines and distinctive towering hairstyles, quickly garnered significant public attention, leading to a phenomenon described as “the Jedward paradox.” Despite judge Simon Cowell’s initial skepticism, they advanced to the live shows under the mentorship of Louis Walsh and finished in sixth place. Their appearance on the show marked the beginning of their professional career, attracting a dedicated fan base and setting the stage for their future endeavors in music and television.

Following their X Factor journey, Jedward signed with Modest! Management before moving to Universal Music Ireland in March 2010. Their debut single, “Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby),” a mashup featuring Vanilla Ice, quickly topped the Irish charts and reached number two in the UK. This success was followed by their debut album, “Planet Jedward,” released in July 2010, which topped the Irish Albums Chart and reached number 17 on the UK Albums Chart, eventually achieving double platinum status in Ireland. They expanded their presence with the ITV2 documentary “Jedward: Let Loose” in August 2010, showcasing their life outside the competition.

Jedward continued to build their career with their second album, “Victory,” in 2011, which also achieved double platinum status in Ireland. They gained international recognition by representing Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest twice, first in 2011 with “Lipstick,” finishing eighth, and again in 2012 with “Waterline.” Their television work extended to hosting children’s series like “OMG! Jedward’s Dream Factory” (2011–2013) and “Jedward’s Big Adventure” (2012–2014), and participating in “Celebrity Big Brother” in 2011 and 2017, where they were runners-up. Their combined net worth was estimated at €6 million in September 2013, solidifying their position as financially successful X Factor alumni.
