About

Jennifer DiNoia was born on February 23, 1982, in Meriden, Connecticut. Her performing arts journey began at an early age, starting dance at age 3 and participating in a national tour of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s ‘The King and I’ by age 6. She continued to pursue dance and singing throughout her youth, eventually attending Point Park University in Pittsburgh, where she majored in dance. After a summer internship at the Broadway Dance Center, DiNoia made the decision to move to New York City to seek stage work, primarily focusing on dance opportunities.

DiNoia’s professional stage career began with a role in the U.S. national tour of ‘Mamma Mia!’, where she was part of the ensemble and understudied the role of Ali. During this tour in 2003, she heard ‘Defying Gravity’ from the musical ‘Wicked,’ which inspired her to take her first professional singing lessons. In summer 2004, DiNoia joined the Las Vegas production of ‘We Will Rock You’ as part of the original American cast, performing in the ensemble and later understudying the lead role of Scaramouche. These early experiences laid the groundwork for her significant career in musical theatre.

Her career trajectory shifted notably when she joined ‘Wicked’ after leaving ‘We Will Rock You’. She was initially cast as a swing in the Chicago production, learning all nine dance parts and serving as an emergency cover for Elphaba. She officially became the standby for Elphaba in October 2007, a role she maintained through various productions and international tours. DiNoia’s extensive association with ‘Wicked’ has seen her perform as Elphaba in multiple countries and companies, establishing her as a prominent figure in the show’s history.
