Canadian actor Jesse Rath first found fame as a young actor in his home country but has more recently enjoyed success in America where he has appeared in shows such as No Tomorrow (playing Timothy) and Supergirl (playing Querl Dox/Brainiac 5). He also made a cameo in the 2019 Jay and Silent Bob Reboot movie. His work in a 2016 miniseries called The Brief saw him nominated for a Best Actor Award at the Canadian Screen Awards. He is hugely popular on social media, with nearly a quarter of a million followers across Instagram and Twitter.
Rath was born in Montreal in February 1989 and has a mix of Goan Indian, English, and Austrian Jewish heritage. He made his screen debut in a 2005 American film called The Greatest Game Ever Played, which was filmed in Montreal. He got his big acting break in 2009 when he was cast as Federico Auditore in a short film trilogy based on the Assassin’s Creed video games. That same year, he was also cast in Aaron Stone, the first original series to be broadcast by the then-new Disney XD channel. This was soon followed by main roles in two Canadian series: CBC’s 18 to Life and Teletoon’s Mudpit.
In 2013, Rath was featured as a guest in a Canadian adaptation of the UK series Being Human and co-starred as Alak Tarr in all three seasons the American sci-fi series Defiance. In 2018, he began playing arguably his biggest role yet, that of Querl Dox/Brainiac 5 in The CW’s DC Comics-based series, Supergirl.
