About

Alfred Joseph Ivie IV, known as Joey Ivie, was born on January 22, 1995, in Dade City, Florida. He attended Pasco High School, where he excelled in football, becoming a starter at defensive tackle as a junior with 53 tackles. In his senior year, he transitioned to left defensive end, recording 89 tackles, and also played fullback and tight end. He also participated in basketball during his freshman year. Ivie continued his academic and athletic career at the University of Florida, where he was a third-generation attendee. Initially redshirted, he saw playing time in the latter part of his true freshman season due to team depth dynamics. As a sophomore, he accumulated 24 tackles and one sack. His junior year saw him start five games, achieving 27 tackles and 3.5 sacks, and he appeared in four games with 16 total tackles and one forced fumble. During his senior season, he started 10 out of 11 games, contributing 26 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Throughout his college career, Ivie primarily played as a nose tackle, rotating within a defensive line that included notable players like Jonathan Bullard and Caleb Brantley.

Ivie was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft as the 228th overall pick. He demonstrated strong athletic performance at his college Pro Day, with numbers competitive with those at the NFL Combine. After signing a four-year, $2.48 million contract with the Cowboys, he was waived in September 2017. He then joined the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad in October 2017, signing a reserve/future contract in January 2018 before being waived in June 2018. The Seattle Seahawks signed him in August 2018, releasing him a month later. In September 2018, Ivie joined the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad, later signing a reserve/future contract in January 2019. He made the Chiefs’ active roster in 2019 but was waived and re-signed to the practice squad, eventually being elevated to the active roster in November 2019 before being waived again.

Ivie concluded the 2019 season with the Tennessee Titans, signing to their practice squad in November and being promoted to the active roster in December. He was waived by the Titans in September 2020 and subsequently joined the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad. He was elevated to the Browns’ active roster for two games in October and November 2020, reverting to the practice squad each time, and was released in January 2021. In July 2021, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts but was waived the following month. He was then claimed off waivers by the Buffalo Bills in August 2021, only to be waived again shortly after. His professional career continued with the Houston Gamblers of the United States Football League in April 2022. In 2022, Ivie also participated in the launch of the Metaleague Non-fungible token project on the Fractal Platform.
