John Henry

John Henry established his formidable career in 1981 by founding John W. Henry & Company, Inc., a global investment management firm where he served as chairman for over 30 years and developed a pioneering mechanical trend-following method for futures trading accounts. His extensive involvement in professional sports ownership began in 1989 as chairman and majority owner of the Tucson Toros of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League. Concurrently, he co-owned the West Palm Beach Tropics in the Senior Professional Baseball Association from 1989 to 1990.

The team also captured five American League East titles and made 11 postseason appearances. Beyond on-field triumphs, Henry oversaw over $400 million in significant improvements to the iconic Fenway Park and established the Red Sox Foundation, which has grown to become the largest team charity in Major League Baseball. He is also a founder and principal owner of Fenway Sports Group (FSG), a prominent global sports conglomerate that includes the Boston Red Sox, Liverpool Football Club, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Expanding his ventures beyond traditional sports, Henry co-founded iRacing.com in 2004, a leading motorsport racing simulation platform, showcasing his diverse investment and development capabilities.

Most recently, his enduring legacy was celebrated with the Golden Plate Award of the American Academy of Achievement in 2024, underscoring his position as a preeminent leader in global business and sports.
