John Allen Kuhn was born on September 9, 1982, in York, Pennsylvania. He was a four-sport athlete at Dover Area High School, excelling in football, basketball, baseball, and track. In football, he set school records with 2,242 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns, including over 1,000 rushing yards in consecutive seasons. Despite his high school achievements, Kuhn did not receive any NCAA Division I scholarship offers for college football, leading him to Shippensburg University. While at Shippensburg, Kuhn proved to be a highly productive player, setting 27 school records and six PSAC records. He finished his collegiate career with 4,685 rushing yards, 910 carries, 53 touchdowns, and 5,300 all-purpose yards. He achieved over 1,000 rushing yards in three consecutive seasons. Kuhn was recognized for his academic excellence, being named a First-team ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America in both 2003 and 2004, and a PSAC Fall Top Ten Award winner twice. He graduated with a chemistry degree in December 2004 and interned with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and Johnson & Johnson.

Kuhn’s professional football career began in 2005 when he was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent. He earned a Super Bowl ring with the Steelers in Super Bowl XL in his inaugural year. After spending time on the Steelers’ practice squad, he joined the Green Bay Packers in 2007. Over nine seasons with the Packers, Kuhn established himself as a key player, contributing as a blocking fullback and a versatile offensive threat. He was instrumental in the Packers’ Super Bowl XLV victory. During his tenure in Green Bay, he earned three Pro Bowl selections (2011, 2014, 2015) and was named First-team All-Pro in 2014 and Second-team All-Pro in 2011. Notably, in the 2013 season finale against the Chicago Bears, Kuhn executed a critical block that enabled Aaron Rodgers to throw a game-winning touchdown pass, securing a playoff berth for the Packers.

Following his successful time with the Packers, Kuhn played for the New Orleans Saints in 2016 and 2017. He scored his first touchdown as a Saint in a Week 3 loss in 2016 and later had a two-rushing touchdown and one-receiving touchdown game against the San Diego Chargers. After a career spanning 12 seasons, Kuhn retired as a Green Bay Packer in 2019. Post-retirement, he transitioned into broadcasting, joining the Packers TV Network as a color analyst and hosting a segment on Wisconsin Sports radio. Kuhn also actively participates in the NFL’s Business Management and Entrepreneur Program at Harvard Business School and the Wharton School of Business.
