John Mulaney is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and writer, known for his work on Saturday Night Live and his acclaimed stand-up specials.
Mulaney partnered with Years, a Midwest-brewed non-alcoholic beer brand. He brings his humor and authenticity to the brand, with his connection starting from receiving a sample from friends.
Mulaney has a long-standing partnership with Netflix, producing multiple stand-up specials including "John Mulaney: Baby J" (2023), and creating and hosting live variety talk shows such as "John Mulaney Presents: Everybody's in LA" (2024) and "Everybody's Live with John Mulaney" (2025).
John Edmund Mulaney was born on August 26, 1982, in Chicago, Illinois. Mulaney began his career in comedy after graduating from Georgetown University in 2004, initially working as an office assistant at Comedy Central. His ambition for stand-up led him to perform on various late-night shows. In 2008, he joined Saturday Night Live as a writer, a role he held for four seasons until 2013. During his time at SNL, he co-created the recurring character Stefon with Bill Hader and occasionally appeared on the show’s Weekend Update segments. Mulaney was also recognized for writing monologues for hosts and contributed to an Emmy-winning song in 2011.
Following his departure from SNL, Mulaney created and starred in the sitcom Mulaney for Fox, which aired from 2014 to 2015. He further developed his stand-up career with specials such as “The Top Part” (2009), “New in Town” (2012), and “The Comeback Kid” (2015), the latter receiving critical acclaim. Mulaney expanded into voice acting, portraying Spider-Ham/Peter Porker in “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” (2018), Chip in “Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers” (2022), and Jack Horner in “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” (2022). He has also taken on guest roles in television series like “Dickinson” (2019), “The Bear” (2023–2025), and “Poker Face” (2025).
Mulaney has hosted Saturday Night Live six times, earning him a spot in the Five Timers Club in 2022. He executive produced and starred in Netflix’s “John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch” (2019), a children’s musical comedy special. His Netflix stand-up specials, “Kid Gorgeous” (2018) and “Baby J” (2023), earned him Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special. In 2020, Mulaney sought treatment for substance use issues and later incorporated his experiences into his comedy. He continues to tour globally with his stand-up shows, including the “Mister Whatever” tour, and has maintained a long-standing partnership with Netflix, hosting “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA” (2024) and “Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney” (2025).
