Jon Lieber

Jon Lieber achieved significant success as a Major League Baseball pitcher, recognized for his consistent performance and leadership on the mound for multiple teams. After achieving a career-best 20 wins and earning an All-Star selection in 2001, Jon Lieber embarked on a distinguished 14-season Major League Baseball (MLB) career, concluding with a career record of 131-124, a 4.27 ERA, and 1,553 strikeouts across 2,198 innings pitched. Drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 1992, Lieber made his MLB debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1994, where he later served as the Opening Day Starter in both 1995 and 1997. During his tenure with the Pirates, he showcased early promise, tying Houston’s Mike Hampton for the highest RBI total among MLB pitchers in 1997.

Lieber concluded his professional playing career after signing a one-year contract with the Chicago Cubs in 2008, bringing his distinguished journey through Major League Baseball, which also included stints with the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees, and Philadelphia Phillies, to an end.
