José Eber brought his brand of Beverly Hills beauty to his new signature salon in West Plano Village.
José Eber's mission was to bring professional-grade hair styling tools to everyday users without compromising hair health or performance.
Born on February 1, 1950, in Nice, Alpes-Maritimes, France, José Eber began his hairstyling career at the age of fifteen as an apprentice in a Parisian salon. In his early twenties, at 26, Eber moved to Los Angeles, California, which he would make his home. He quickly distinguished himself by introducing a carefree, unstructured hairstyle, moving away from the era’s stiff, highly sprayed looks. This style became widely popular and easy for many women to maintain, marking him as a significant trendsetter in the 1970s.
Eber rapidly gained recognition among Hollywood’s elite, with early celebrity clients including Farrah Fawcett, Cher, and Elizabeth Taylor. He opened his first signature salon in Beverly Hills and later expanded with an elegant salon on 2 Rodeo Drive. Over the years, José Eber has continued to expand his presence, establishing nine additional locations in various prestigious areas such as Palm Desert at The Marriott Desert Springs Resort, South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California; Saks Fifth Avenue in Houston and Austin, Texas; The Westchester Mall in White Plains, New York; The Four Seasons Resorts Aviara, Carlsbad, California; The Shops at the Willow Bend Mall, in Plano, Texas; and the Preston Sherry Plaza, in Dallas, Texas. His spectacular salon at Saks Fifth Avenue in the Bal Harbour Shops extended his artistry to South Florida.
Beyond his salon work, José Eber is a sought-after television personality, appearing on international, national, and local talk shows like “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “Entertainment Tonight,” ABC’s “Good Morning America,” “CNN,” and NBC’s “Today,” where he performs on-camera makeovers. He is also a national best-selling author, having penned “Shake Your Head, Darling” and “Beyond Hair, The Ultimate Makeover Book” (Simon & Schuster). Eber also ventured into home video with “Why Do I Call You Sexy?”, a instructional video on beauty and style. In addition to his professional endeavors, he is actively involved in philanthropic work, supporting organizations like the Sojourn Organization in the fight against domestic violence and AmFar, Elizabeth Taylor’s AIDS Foundation.
