Josh Herdman

Joshua Colin M. Herdman was born on September 9, 1987, in Hampton, London, England. The youngest of four boys, he is the son of actor and former professional rugby league player Martin Herdman and Jessica Herdman. Herdman began acting at the age of seven, following his father’s profession, and secured an agent to pursue his career. He received his significant acting breakthrough at age 13 when he was cast as Gregory Goyle, a notable character in the ‘Harry Potter’ film series.

Herdman’s career is marked by his consistent portrayal of Gregory Goyle across all eight ‘Harry Potter’ films, from ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ (2001) to ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2’ (2011). While engaged with the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise, he also appeared in other productions, including the film ‘Thunderpants’ (2002) and various television series. Post-Harry Potter, Herdman continued acting, taking on roles in films like ‘Robin Hood’ (2018), where he played Righteous, and television series such as ‘Marcella’ (2018), ‘Alex Rider’ (2020), ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth’ (2022), and ‘Andor’ (2022).

In addition to his acting career, Herdman developed an interest in mixed martial arts (MMA). After five years of training in Japanese jujitsu, he transitioned to competitive MMA fighting. He initiated his MMA career on April 23, 2016, in Romford, achieving a decision win over Janusz Walachowski.
