Josimar Aldair Quintero Quintero, born on February 3, 1997, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, began his football journey at a young age after moving to Spain with his family at five. He joined FC Barcelona’s youth academy, La Masia, at the age of eight. This early exposure to top-tier training laid the foundation for his professional career. In 2013, after attracting interest from prominent English clubs, Quintero moved to Chelsea in July 2014, although he faced initial delays due to paperwork and visa issues, preventing him from playing competitively until he turned 18. During the 2014–15 under-21 campaign at Chelsea, he became a key player in Adi Viveash’s squad, making eighteen appearances and scoring once across all competitions. He scored his first goal for the Chelsea academy in an UEFA Youth League match against Porto.
Subsequently, Quintero gained international experience through several loan spells. In 2017, he joined Russian club FC Rostov on a season-long loan, making his debut in a cup tie against Volgar Astrakhan on September 20, 2017. Following this, he moved to Spanish club Betis B in January 2018 for the remainder of the season, with an option for a permanent transfer. He made his debut for Betis B on March 4, 2018, against Mérida AD. Later that year, in August 2018, he signed a season-long loan with Lleida Esportiu, a Spanish third-tier club. His career progression continued in 2019 when he joined Segunda División B club Espanyol B on a one-year deal, with an option for a two-year extension.
In December 2020, Quintero transitioned to the USL Championship, signing with Real Monarchs. After a two-year hiatus from professional football, he joined Gudja United in the Maltese Premier League in January 2024. Most recently, he signed with Rōnin FC in Quarta Catalana in 2025. Over his career, Quintero has demonstrated versatility, transitioning from a winger to a central midfielder, and has accumulated a total of 100 appearances across various competitions, scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists.
