JP Dellacamera began his extensive career as the first hockey radio announcer for the Erie Blades from 1975 to 1982, having previously worked with the Long Island Cougars. In 1982, he seamlessly transitioned to soccer, joining the Pittsburgh Spirit of the Major Indoor Soccer League as an announcer, marking the initial step in his celebrated soccer commentary career. He quickly became a prominent voice in American soccer, notably calling Paul Caligiuri’s iconic ‘Shot Heard Round the World’ goal in 1989, a pivotal moment for U.S. men’s soccer.
His remarkable dedication to sports media has been recognized with the National Soccer Hall of Fame’s Colin Jose Media Award in 2018 and the Clay Berling Media Career of Excellence Award, cementing his status as a pioneering and respected figure in American sports media. Most recently, Dellacamera served as the lead play-by-play voice for FOX Sports FIFA Womens World Cup coverage from 2015 to 2023. He returned to call his ninth FIFA World Cup in Qatar with Fox Sports in 2022 and, in 2024, returned to call Copa America in the United States. With over four decades of experience, he continues to lend his iconic voice to the Philadelphia Union’s MLS broadcasts, maintaining his active and influential presence in sports commentary.
