Judy Gold is a double Daytime Emmy-winning comedian, writer, and actress from New Jersey. She won her two awards as part of the team behind The Rosie O’Donnell Show in the late 1990s. She also appeared as a commentator in over 180 episodes of The World’s Dumbest and has had regular roles in shows such as All-American Girl, SuperNormal, Better Things, and The First Lady. Her book, Yes I Can Say That, a passionate argument against censoring comedians, was published in 2020. She also hosts a weekly podcast called Kill Me Now.
Gold was born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1962. She studied music at Rutgers University but after performing a stand-up routine as a dare, she threw in her lot with comedy. She began to break in to the world of television in the early 1990s, with her debut being a one-off role in an episode of Roseanne. She also gained early exposure for her stand-up work with appearances on shows such as An Evening at the Improv. Throughout the 1990s, she established herself as a strong female voice in comedy, embracing both her Jewish heritage and her sexuality (she is a lesbian with two sons and a strong voice in the Jewish LGBTQ community).
Fast forward to the 2020s, and Gold remains as popular as ever, with a large social media following (over 100,000 followers across Twitter and Instagram) and at least one popular podcast to her name. She also still performs live and can regularly be seen acting in comedy series.
