Jujubee is a drag queen of such distinction that she can claim to be the only person to have finished in the top-three of Ru Paul’s Drag Race in three separate seasons. As well as being one of the most successful contestants in one of the biggest cultural phenomena of recent years, Jujubee is also one of the stars of Dragnificent! a makeover show in which four drag queens transform a bride-to-be in time for her wedding.
Jujubee was born Airline Inthyrath in Boston, where she grew up, ultimately graduating from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in Theatre Acting. Her television break came in 2010 when she appeared in the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. She quickly became a hit with the show’s fans, finishing third and being nominated for the Most Addictive Reality Star at the LGBT-centred NewNowNext Awards. Such popularity ensured that she was invited to appear on RuPaul’s Drag U! a spin-off that involved Jujubee and other “professors” working their makeover magic on three women. In 2012, she took part in the first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, finishing third again. Amazingly, in 2020, she appeared in the fifth season of the show, again coming third.
Having appeared in various music videos for the likes of RuPaul and Xelle over the years, Jujubee launched her solo career in 2020 with an EP entitled Good Juju Vol.1. This was quickly followed by Vol.2 and suggested that Jujubee has a wealth of hidden talents still to share with her many adoring fans.
