Airline Inthyrath, known professionally as Jujubee, was born on June 21, 1984. She was raised in Boston, Massachusetts, and Fresno, California, before settling in Lowell, Massachusetts. Jujubee’s early life saw challenges, including the loss of her father at age 15 and her mother’s subsequent departure. She pursued theater arts, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her drag career began, leading to her first major television appearance in 2010 on the second season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” where she achieved a third-place finish. This participation marked the beginning of a significant presence within the drag entertainment industry.
Following her initial success, Jujubee expanded her television resume, appearing as a drag professor on “RuPaul’s Drag U” from 2010 to 2012. She subsequently competed in the first and fifth seasons of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars,” and the first series of “RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World.” Her consistent performance led her to become the only contestant to reach the finale of the competition four times, a notable achievement in the show’s history. In 2019, she joined “Dragnificent,” a TLC show focused on makeovers, showcasing her versatility beyond competitive drag. Jujubee also made an appearance in Netflix’s “AJ and the Queen” in 2020. Her career has included various television roles, demonstrating a sustained commitment to entertainment.
In addition to her television work, Jujubee has developed a music career, releasing her debut extended play, “Good Juju: Vol. 1,” in 2020, followed by “Good Juju: Vol. 2.” She has also engaged in podcasting, launching “Queen of Hearts,” a blind-date game show in partnership with Wondery and Amazon Music. This venture further expanded her media presence and showcased her ability to host and connect with audiences in a new format. In 2023, Jujubee took on the role of Twyla in “Dungeons and Drag Queens,” an actual play series, further diversifying her performance portfolio and illustrating her adaptability across different entertainment platforms.
