American drag performer June Jambalaya brought the heat to the fourteenth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Famous for her fierce dance moves, the fabulous diva has also made a name for herself with her big Digital performances, including her three month Christmas Extravaganza project where she travelled LA and ended filming Christmas songs in Big Bear, and filming in drag in 120 degree heat and sand dunes to promote the Black Lives Matter movement.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, the stunning drag queen spent many unsuccessful years studying Fine Arts before entering into a night drag competition in West Hollywood with only one aim – to win. An invite to compete in a ten week competition then followed, where she became the first plus-size queen of colour to win the $5000 prize – and the drag artist June Jambalaya was born. She began doing drag part-time whilst carrying on with her regular job, but in 2021 decided to audition for RuPaul’s Drag Race and was invited to join the show after only doing drag for just over two years.
Taking part in the “Olympics of drag” was a dream come true for the rising drag star, who now has her own drag family thanks to appearing on the show as well as numerous new connections, resources and peers to help and support her as her career reaches stratospheric new heights.
