American reality TV star Kaci Campbell got more than she bargained for when she became one of the stars of the fourth season of USA Network’s hit reality show Temptation Island, in which couples spend time living on an island in Hawaii with a group of single people in order to test the strength of their relationship. Campbell and her boyfriend of five years Evan Smith entered the show only for Smith to break up with Campbell in the show’s final episode and start a relationship with one of the single contestants. Smith, the son of actor Gavin Smith, subsequently got engaged to the woman, only to split up. Campbell meanwhile, had the sympathy of the show’s fans and showed herself to be the bigger person when she offered public support to the woman Smith left her for.

In the time since the show aired, Campbell has returned to LA and become a vlogger, with her YouTube channel gaining thousands of subscribers and her videos, in which she does everything from talking about her time on the show and what she learned to unboxing beauty products, have gathered hundreds of thousands of views. She also offers exclusive modelling content through the Only Fans subscription website where she is billed as “your favourite American sweetheart”.

Hosted by Mark Wahlberg, Temptation Island is a successful revival of a format that first appeared in the US on Fox in the early 2000s. Few couples who’ve appeared on the show, however, have generated the narrative arc and column inches of Campbell and Smith.
