Teenage star Kamri Peterson is a professional dancer who first came to prominence when she was chosen to partner “spellebrity” Akash Vutoki on the first season of Dancing with the Stars: Juniors, which premiered on ABC in October 2018. The pair performed well, being eliminated in the sixth week despite high scores from all three judges. They were mentored by Emmy-nominated professional Latin ballroom dancer Witney Carson McAllister.
Since appearing on Dancing with the Stars: Juniors, Peterson has continued to dedicate herself to dance, improving all the time and constantly raising her public profile. She has an endorsement deal with premium dancewear clothing company Jo & Jax and did a stunning solo performance at the 2019 Dance Awards. She is also a world pro American champion.
Peterson was born in 2008 in Utah, making her just ten years old when she became one of Dancing with the Stars’ professional partners. The success of the show and her undoubted talent made her a popular presence on social media—she now has nearly 75,000 followers on Instagram alone—and with that profile comes the pressure not only of professional dancing but also of growing up in the public eye. Yet Peterson is keeping her head firmly on her shoulders—even if her feet have to leave the ground during her routines! As she matures and her dancing continues to improve, she’ll surely become one of the leading professional partners that double-left-footed celebrities on Dancing with the Stars or Strictly Come Dancing are paired with in years to come.
