Ken Mandat is a guitarist and musician, known for his work in the heavy metal band Damien Thorne and his diverse performance capabilities within the Chicago music scene. After co-founding the American heavy metal band Damien Thorne in 1983, Ken Mandat quickly established himself as a prominent figure in the music industry, particularly noted for his foundational guitar skills and contributions to the heavy metal genre. As the band’s instrumental founding guitarist, Mandat was crucial in their early development, including the recording of their 1984 demo album, Sign of the Jackal. This success led to the subsequent LP release of the same name in 1986 through RoadRunner Records and Jackal Productions, marking a significant early milestone in his career.

Mandat’s commitment to Damien Thorne has remained steadfast throughout the decades, making him the only original member to appear on their 2015 release, Soul Stealer. His consistent involvement includes his contributions to the albums Wrath of Darkness (2001, reissued 2004), Haunted Mind (2005), and End of the Game (2011). Demonstrating his musical versatility beyond heavy metal, Mandat also lends his guitar work to Superfly Symphony, a 1970s-style disco group, performing original tracks that evoke the funk and soul era.
