Kevin Costner & Modern West is an American country rock band that was founded in 2007, with actor Kevin Costner serving as the frontman. The band embarked on a worldwide tour in October 2007, which included performances in locations such as Istanbul and Rome. They also performed at NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events at Daytona International Speedway and Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. The band’s debut country album, “Untold Truths,” was released on November 11, 2008, under Universal South Records. This album reached position 61 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and position 35 on the Top Heatseekers chart. Three singles from the album, “Superman 14,” “Long Hot Night,” and “Backyard,” were released to radio. Music videos were produced for “Superman 14,” “Backyard,” and “Hey Man What About You.”

In 2009, Kevin Costner & Modern West toured with special guests The Alternate Routes. A notable event occurred in August at the Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose, Alberta, where a severe thunderstorm caused the collapse of the main stage shortly before the band was scheduled to perform. This incident resulted in one fatality and forty injuries. Following this, an auction was held to support the children of the deceased individual, where a dinner with Costner was auctioned for $41,000, and two autographed guitars each raised $10,000. In February 2010, the band released their second album, “Turn It On,” exclusively in Europe. The album charted in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Greece, supported by a European tour. The lead single, “Let Me Be the One,” featured Sara Beck and had an accompanying music video.

The band continued to release music, with their third album, “From Where I Stand,” released in 2011, which included guest vocals from German pop singer Nena. In April 2012, Kevin Costner & Modern West performed at a benefit gala for the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, Florida. Their discography further expanded with “Famous for Killing Each Other: Music from and Inspired By Hatfields & McCoys” in 2012, which charted at 14 on US Country and 16 on US Indie charts. In 2020, they released “Tales from Yellowstone,” reinforcing their connection to Costner’s acting projects.
