Kevin Downey Jr. began his entertainment career early, making his television debut at age six on CKLW’s “The Bozo Show.” This early exposure was followed by a move to New York City, where he initially worked at Macy’s Santaland as an elf. His path soon shifted towards stand-up comedy after attending a show at New York’s Comic Strip Live, marking a significant turning point in his professional life. It took him three years to gather the courage to perform on stage himself, starting a career that would span over three decades.

Over his career, Downey Jr. has become a headlining comedian at various comedy clubs across the United States, including The Comedy Stop at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. His work has extended to radio, where he is a regular on “The Bob and Tom Show” and SiriusXM Satellite radio. He has also made televised appearances on Comedy Central, “What Not to Wear,” “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” and was a contestant on “NBC’s America’s Got Talent.” Beyond performances, Downey Jr. is a writer, contributing a column titled “Drinking on $11 a Night” to Bachelor Pad Magazine, GC magazine, usedwigs.com, and drinkingon11.com. He also hosts a weekly radio show on 103.9 FM in Suffolk County, NY.

His comedic endeavors include a nationally released DVD, “I’m not Gay, but Don’t Stop,” available on Amazon and Netflix. He has written for “Dry Bar Comedy” (2020) and is known for his song, “Secret Garden of Dirty Little Whores, (who think they’re better than me),” which has been played on college and traditional radio stations. Kevin Downey Jr. has also dedicated his time to performing for American troops worldwide as a proud member of Armed Forces Entertainment, and he appeared as a “Women’s Coalition Dinner Patron” in the 1988 film “Flesh-Eating Mothers.”
