Sojourner Brown

Sojourner Brown is an New York City-based actor with a background spanning Broadway, television, and music. She is an alumna of NYU Tisch, having earned her BFA in Acting. Her career began to take shape with appearances in films like “Your Body is a Catechism” in 2017 and “That Very Evening” in 2018. Brown diversified her artistic pursuits by joining DCappella, Disney Music Group’s a cappella ensemble. As a singer for Walt Disney Records, she contributed to three albums, accumulated millions of streams on digital releases and YouTube videos, and performed as a guest artist on season 16 of “American Idol.” She also lent her vocals to the “Incredibles 2” soundtrack and headlined at Carnegie Hall during DCappella’s tours across Japan and North America in 2019.

Transitioning further into acting, Brown has appeared on television networks such as Disney Channel, NBC, Peacock, and ABC/Freeform. In 2024, she was seen in “Elsbeth” on CBS/Paramount+. Her work in film includes an upcoming feature, “The Snare” (2025), and award-winning films on the festival circuit. Sojourner continues to engage with new theatrical developments, performing in workshops and readings for Off-Broadway and local theaters, including The Public.

Brown’s career includes significant Broadway engagements. She joined the cast of the Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning play “PURPOSE,” making her Broadway debut in the production in 2025. Additionally, she became part of the Broadway cast of “HADESTOWN” in 2019 as a swing performer, further solidifying her presence in the New York theatrical scene.
