Kimrie Denise Lewis was born in Los Angeles, California, USA. She pursued higher education at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. This foundational training prepared her for a career in acting, writing, and directing across various media platforms. Her career began with appearances in various television shows and commercials, laying the groundwork for more prominent roles.

Lewis gained recognition for her recurring role as reporter Ashley Davidson on the ABC drama series “Scandal,” which spanned from 2013 to 2018. During this period, she also expanded her filmography, appearing as Meg in the 2013 film “Peeples.” Her versatility as an actress allowed her to secure roles in both comedic and dramatic productions. A significant turning point in her career was joining the cast of the ABC comedy “Single Parents” in 2018, where she starred as Poppy Banks for 45 episodes until 2020. Following this, she took on a main role as Mika in the NBC comedy “Kenan,” appearing in 20 episodes between 2021 and 2022. In addition to acting, Lewis has also contributed as a writer and director. She wrote and directed the short film “Fake It Til You Make It” (2022) and directed the short film “He Was Asking for It” (2019), demonstrating her creative abilities beyond performing.
